Wes and Lacey's engagement session on Sunday was a breeze. Yes, we were in an incredible family owned farm with everything from old cars to cows upon cows, but more than that, Wes and Lacey were adorable to be around. Their playful bantering made me smile knowing they will laugh through life together as a married couple. I learned all about how they met and the humor around Wes's amazing dance moves...needless to say, I am excited to see those moves play out at their upcoming wedding!

Jon + Chelsea's Engagements {Atascadero}

Erik + Jaime's Wedding {Mission SLO and Avila Beach Golf Resort}

It's the most wonderful time of the year!...Erik and Jaime's wedding was beautiful from start to finish and a perfect December event. With the magnificent help of Jenn at Allure Event Designs, every detail down to an amazing s'mores bar was thought of for the Schmoekel Wedding. I have to mention Jaime...STUNNING! Her dress was like none I have seen this year and she truly glowed in it as she saw her soon-to-be husband for the first time.

The ceremony was held at the Mission San Luis Obispo and I think it almost makes it magical with the warm ambiance. I love that photographers can only utilized the available light because it captures the event is "real time." As for the reception, Erik and Jaime had the tent at the Avila Beach Golf Resort filled with vibrant red flowers and crystal vases. Guests enjoyed stellar dancing provided by Kramer Entertainment while embellishing delicious creations at a customized s'mores bar by Allure Event Designs.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Schmoekel!...thus concludes my 2011 wedding season!

Holiday Mini Session - Day 3 {Pomar Junction}

Holiday Mini Session - Day 2 {Pomar Junction and Paso Robles}

Day 2 of the mini sessions was a success. I had the joy of capturing Carissa and Corey's wedding a few years back so it was great to see them again. Their puppies showed off their smiles and stole the show for their session...we couldn't have asked for more. As for the Crank's session, please laugh with me. Right when we got out of the car, it started pouring down rain. So we did what anyone would do when you have the kids dressed and ready...we shot the pictures. The girls were troopers in the rain and didn't let it stop them. Mel is a gorgeous mom (and Jeff is not a bad looking dad either) and I loved capturing her vibrant blue eyes.

Kevin + Taylor's Engagements {Paso Robles}

Thanks to Kayla, I had the joy of shooting at this amazing barn in Paso Robles with Kevin and Taylor. Our session had beautiful lighting since we finished right as the sun was starting to set behind the nearby hill. Watching the two of them interact and listening to them chat was a gift. I cannot believe it's that time of year again!...The time has flown. I had a full day of shooting on Saturday with some absolutely amazing families with ADORABLE children! I could not have hoped for a more perfect setting at Pomar Junction...I found myself wishing I could have my own family's shots taken there. Justin + Amanda's Wedding {Santa Margarita Ranch}

Saturday was an amazing day for Justin and Amanda at Santa Margarita Ranch. Being sandwiched between rain on Friday and rain forecasted for Sunday, their wedding had beautiful clouds and lighting. Amanda's vibrant personality and glowing beauty was easy to captured throughout the day, especially when she saw Justin for the first time. Justin had tears at the view of his bride. It's times like these that I love being able to capture for memories to come.

The reception was an event to talk about. Rusty the DJ did an incredible job keeping the dancing flowing and laughter throughout the night...oh, and his drum stick playing to each song was priceless. I loved it! Amanda and Justin visibly had an amazing time celebrating at their wedding with all the guests. It was a joy to capture this day...thanks Justin and Amanda!

Associate Kayla: Casey + Trisha {Avila Beach Golf Resort}

All Kayla could talk about after Casey and Trisha's wedding was how genuinely sweet they both were and how obviously, deeply in love they were with each other. On a destination wedding from Iowa, they had hopes of getting married barefoot in the sand on the sunny beaches of California, but the weather had other plans. Casey joked with Kayla and Shelbea about the irony of traveling all the way across the United States and it being cloudy and overcast all day long in Avila Beach, but Trisha and Casey didn't let that effect their mood. They were willing to do whatever was asked of them, which included dancing in the water and climbing a lifeguard tower, just for the perfect shot. Little known to most brides, an overcast day at the beach is a photographers dream. It added just the right amount of romance and gave the illusion that they were the only two on the entire beach.

Kayla started out at the Avila Village Inn where she met Trisha for getting ready shots, then proceeded to downtown Avila Beach to meet Casey and his men. Trisha and Casey had their first look under the Avila Pier. Their reactions brought tears to Kayla's eyes as Casey was actually rendered speechless at Trisha's beauty. She kept asking him what he thought and no words would come out. Trisha couldn't take her eyes off of Casey and kept looking up at him and beaming with excitement that he was her soon-to-be husband. Their ceremony took place in the sand of Avila's Olde Port with only family and close friends in attendance. After a touching ceremony, Kayla laughed and took pictures as Casey chased Trisha up and down the beach while her kids cheered for him catch her and throw her in the freezing water. (Trisha was too fast for him to catch.)

The reception was held at The Avila Beach Golf Resort. Before their grand entrance, Trisha and Casey asked Kayla if they could go back to the beach and take more pictures. "When will we be dressed like this and on a California beach again?" Casey had said. It is almost unheard of to be asked to take more pictures and Kayla and Shelbea bounced on the opportunity to be creative. Once back to the reception site, Trisha and Casey made every vendor feel welcome by requesting that they all be seated with their guests, photographers included. The rest of the night was filled with lots of love and tons of laughter. It was a wedding Kayla will never forget.

I am constantly reminded that I live in a gorgeous place...especially when I am able to capture a wedding in the vibrant colors of a vineyard in the fall. Robert and Chelsea were married Saturday at one of my favorite venues in the area - Santa Margarita Ranch. The Ranch pretty much is a photographer's dream with all the textures, colors, props, and backgrounds. Needless to say, I was in heaven the whole day. Chelsea's blue eyes were so grabbing and she was truly beautiful. Watching the two of them interact and goof around with each other was a treat for Kayla and I. I left with a smile on my face because it's weddings like this that make me love my job.

Tim + Dena's Wedding {Booker Vineyard}

I love weddings because there is always something unique and different about each one. Tim and Dena's wedding was exactly that...they had their ceremony in one of the most beautiful venues I have ever shot. With the sun setting behind them, Tim and Dena became husband and wife on top of a hill overlooking the vineyards at Booker Vineyard. I was a bit speechless. We took all their couple shots after the ceremony so we were speedy to grab whatever light was available but it definitely created for some unique lighting opportunities and had me thinking on my toes...always a good challenge. Their reception was another incredible venue with a gorgeously decorated tent...all in all, this wedding was amazing.

Everytime we have a wedding in Paso Robles, we remember how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful area. When Kayla found out that Chris and Sarah had chosen Still Waters Vineyard as their venue she was elated. Set on top of a hill on the outskirts of Paso Robles, Still Waters Vineyard is a photographer's dream. With unlimited background options from olive groves and oak trees surrounded by vibrant flowers, to monarch butterflies, this place has it all. Stick a stunning bride and an handsome groom in the middle of it all and you have Sarah and Chris’ perfect wedding. Sarah was beautiful and easy going. She lit up the room as soon as she walked in. During their first look, Chris made Kayla smile by twirling Sarah around as if to take her all in. They exchanged their vows overlooking the vineyards and proceeded to their reception where not a detail was missed. It even included a donut bar for Officer Horn himself. After Sarah and Chris danced a beautifully choreographed first dance, the floor was opened up as DJ Malik really got the party going. The dancing didn’t let up and continued on in the barrel room for the rest of the night.

Kayla has the privilage of shooting at The Cliffs Resort often. Every time is just as beautiful and picturesque as the first. So when Kayla found out she would be shooting Ashley and Keahn’s wedding there, she was excited because she KNEW it was going to be amazing. Little did Kayla know that this couple would made her job even easier. Ashley was stunning. Her big beautiful smile lit up the room as soon as Kayla arrived and continued to shine through every picture. To Kayla's surprise, it was Keahn who really made Ashley's smile come out! Kayla had to bribe them in order to get them to stop staring at eachother during their couples shots, which happend to be right as the sun set over the water. We proceeded to a beautiful, intimate candelit reception. With help of a custom made guest signed shot board, Kramer Entertainment cranked up the music and really got the party going.

Saturday's cloudy day and light showers could not have brought a more beautiful ambiance to Merrill and Laura's wedding at The Cliffs Resort. The lighting almost seemed fake as the sun peaked through the clouds right before sunset for the majority of their couple shots...I was thrilled! Laura was a beautiful bride who literally lit up while being with Merrill. Kayla and I kept commenting how priceless Merrill's face was while looking at his stunning bride...it was as if he blocked out everything around him and just zoned in on Laura. As for the reception, I do not think I have ever seen The Cliffs' ballroom look so spectacular. Kramer Entertainment provided all the lighting and it truly make the reception transform. All in all, this was an amazing wedding and a gift for me to attend.

What a fun gift! The 3 Justus girls surprised their mom with a weekend birthday celebration...every mom's dream. Before the birthday dinner, I met up with the family for a portrait session at Shell Beach. I had the pleasure of shooting Dan and Kasey's wedding a few years back so it was a blessing to to with everyone again. A few babies and a new marriage have been added to the group since I have been with them all so it was great to capture the growing family. I have to say, they all have some of the best smiles...I found myself smiling behind the camera. I did get a little teary eyed at one point when snapping a few pictures of the girls loving on their mom. What a gift for me to see.

Brady and Kirsten's wedding at Mondo Cellars in Paso Robles was eye catching. Yes, they had a beautiful wedding party packed full of witty energetic friends, but also their decorations with peacock feathers was stunning. Kirsten tied the feathers and colors throughout the entire event right down to the adorable wings wore by the three flower girls. I loved the creativity and vibrant colors! As for the beautiful bride...she looked gorgeous as usual. Kirsten has such a contagious personality that makes everyone laugh and it was fun to see her celebrate with family and friends. Brady is rather photogenic himself who an amazing smile...so as a couple, they were almost a dynamic duo.

Michael told me after the ceremony that he couldn't keep his eyes off her...she truly glowed. The reception tent was decorated with an incredible vintage chic style that was found throughout the entire wedding. I cannot say enough about this wedding. I felt like I was capturing one creative and unique surprise after the other. Joel and Erin thought everything through and I can honestly say that nothing was lacking in this celebration. Starting at the Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa for the ceremony, Joel and Erin's guests enjoy incredible weather over looking the cliffs while they said their nuptials. Erin glowed with beauty and Joel could not take his eyes off his stunning bride. The reception was held at the Ventana Grill and it was a perfect venue for them. Yes, the decorations were breathtaking but the order of events is what left me surprised just as much as their guests. Joel shocked everyone with sing and playing a song to Erin on a baby grand piano...Erin's two maids of honor RAPPED their toast to a three minute song...Erin changed into another dress to dance with Joel to a three song medley...Amazing!...the list keeps going. All in all, it was perfect...absolutely perfect and I was blessed to capture it all.

Last Saturday's wedding for Kent and Tara's was beautiful. The rain presented a new schedule for the entire event but I honestly think it could not have gone more smoothly. Having to move the ceremony inside, guests were treated to a twinkle lit ceremony as Kent and Tara became husband and wife. We quickly jumped right into the pictures to get the couple to their reception as quickly as possible. Luckily for me, both Kent and Tara were willing to brave the rain to grab some pictures in the fields. "What matters now is when we get married...it doesn't matter where." This was a sweet quote my associate Kayla heard from Nikki and Josh as they waited for the crazy thunderstorm to pass over in order for them to begin their ceremony on Sunday. It's very rare for the San Luis Obispo County to have severe rain but Sunday proved to be one of those rare times. I just cling to the old saying that rain is good luck on a wedding...and Josh and Nikki now have plenty of it. :) The couple's beautiful ceremony was planned to take place on the lawn at the Cliffs Resort. Luckily, Kayla and Shelbea took pictures before the ceremony but, unfortunately, the rain and wind kicked into high gear thus causing the entire wedding to be adjusted and moved. Regardless the circumstances with a rain filled tent and anything else one could image, Nikki was absolutely stunning with her whimsical hair style and gorgeous dress. She definitely caught everyone's eye (including Josh's) as she enjoyed the night with both friends and family. My associate Kayla and I are thrilled for this marriage and admire both Josh and Nikki for smiling through Sunday's eventfulness...blessings to you both!

Michael and Kelley's wedding at the Santa Margarita Ranch was a perfect way for me to finish up the 2010 wedding season before the soon arrival of my second child! They are such a vivacious couple who captured my heart from our first consultation and have kept me laughing since. Kelley is clearly beyond beautiful with a picture perfect smile and Michael has such a comedic draw to him that they almost make a super couple.

Due to the unique November weather, Michael and Kelley had to move their ceremony inside the barn where the reception would also be held. I was excited when I heard the news since I have always wanted to shoot a ceremony in the barn...the natural lighting is amazing and creates such an intimate atmosphere. How thrilled I was! Everything was beautiful and it almost made for a surreal day. Guests were treated to every detail the couple thought of for the wedding (including a heavenly donut spread for dessert) and everyone truly celebrated the union of this amazing couple. Again, I love my job and I am thankful for incredible couples like the new Mr. and Mrs. Odil!
